25 Art Exhibits to See (For Free!) this Summer

Ahh, the dog days of summer! It's that time of the season when the temperatures are high, the days are long and, let's face it, keeping cool is at the top of your priority list. 

In addition to visiting your local library branch for storytimes, classes, live performances, and checking out materials, we're here to remind you that 14 of our libraries offer art galleries, and just like all library resources, they are free and open to the public. 

Below we've rounded up two dozen exhibits in our libraries this summer. We encourage you to stop by as many as you'd like (gallery visits earn kids and teens Summer Challenge points through July 31, after all!), sign the guest book, and take pictures. Because when you find the perfect photo opportunity for your Instagram grid, well, there's not much that's cooler than that.

Unraveling Identity by Denise R. Duarte An exhibition that compares the diversity of plants with definitions of human sexuality and gender identity. Through July 20 at Sahara West Library

Everybody Has a Dream Juried Exhibit by Las Vegas Artists Guild Art presented by members of the Las Vegas Artists Guild, juried and judged by invited art professionals. Through July 20 at Sahara West Library

Desert Companion’s Seventh Annual Focus on Nevada Showcase A showcase of finalists’ photographs from Desert Companion’s Seventh Annual “Focus on Nevada” feature. Through July 28 at Sahara West Library

The Varied Faces of Water by Hannelore Lowery Paintings depicting water. Through August 6 at Spring Valley Library
