Grow Your Own Gardens with Hydroponics

Hydroponics is the process of growing plants in water instead of a traditional garden bed with soil. Plants in hydroponic systems still require the same needs as plants grown in an outdoor garden (water, light, air, and nutrients), but access them in different ways. NASA is experimenting with growing food hydroponically in the International Space Station so that future travelers can grow food both in space, but also on the Moon and Mars! On Earth, hydroponics may be the future of farming.
The Library District has teamed up with Green Our Planet to teach kids, teens, and adults how to grow their own vegetable, fruit and herb gardens using hydroponics.
