The Boyd Gaming Corporation has made a generous donation of $2,500 to the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation to support access to free tutors at nine library branches. Teachers in Libraries operates Monday to Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from September to May, following the CCSD calendar. Students from any school are welcome to drop in for assistance with their homework of the day. Click here to find a branch near you.
This program is a valuable resource for students and families and has had attendance of over 5,000 students since school began in September. The program’s in person and informal interaction is personalized and immediate. Some students attend regularly. Others come when they need extra help. The tutoring services also support parents and caregivers - those who are not native English speakers, those who struggle with math and reading themselves, and those who are working and have limited time to do homework with their children. In parent surveys, we often hear that this program has kept parents sane in the evenings when family life can be hectic.
