Zoë Camper: Everything Starts with a Pencil

This new exhibit by Zoë Camper features a series of pencil drawings that merge realistic and symbolic portraiture with encrypted storytelling. Using RSA encryption, each piece contains hidden text that reveals a personal narrative connected to the subject of the portrait. The work reflects key emotional milestones in the artist’s life and career, exploring what it means to truly live and work as an artist. Themes such as creative production, the pressure of exhibition deadlines, the importance of support, and the thrill of recognition from collectors all appear throughout the series. At its core, this exhibit celebrates the expressive power and flexibility of the pencil as a tool for both writing and drawing.
