This exhibit features finely crafted wood turnings by members of the Las Vegas Woodturners Association.
Woodturning is the art and craft of creating shaped objects on a lathe. The lathe is a machine, originally invented over 3,000 years ago, that holds and rotates a material like wood or stone so that it can be carved quickly with sharp tools.
The Las Vegas Woodturners are an affiliate of the American Association of Woodturners, which is a national association. Members include woodturners who are just beginning as well as those with many years of experience. In addition to monthly programs that address a wide range of topics in woodturning, the club has developed a mentoring program to provide instruction and assistance to the beginning turner.
