Biblically inspired paintings of the beginning and the end by Dayo Adelaja, Bill Bon, Harold Bradford, Dyron Boyd, Jeannie Earhart, Adolfo Gonzalez, Cecilia Lary, and Rita Maroun.
Over seven years ago some of the artists from Left of Center Art Gallery started meeting on Saturday mornings to have morning prayer and breakfast at my home before heading over to the gallery. One of our greatest blessings is the fact that we were all given the gift of art. We wanted to give thanks to God and glorify Him in some way, for this awesome talent that we all share. We began to think about ways we could interpret certain events that occurred in scripture and translate them into our paintings. There are floods of subject matter within the scriptures, and it can be challenging to tell the stories visually.
The main reason we chose to title this show From the Beginning to the End is because the paintings are primarily based on the book of Genesis, which is the first book of the Bible, and the book of Revelations, which is the last. With the current events happening all over the world, we have been asked whether we had premonitions that prompted these paintings. My answer is, we have all had premonitions, and we are choosing to tell the stories from our own perspectives, hoping to leave a lasting impression upon the viewer.
