“The year began with ever-escalating hostile policies and state violence. We wondered: What does it mean to belong here, there, or anywhere? Sixteen artists responded.
HOME IS A PLACE ROOTED INSIDE MY THROAT is a group show exploring belonging and shared resistance. With this collection of works, we hope to honor people across the globe who seek freedom and liberation.
The words of Oliver de la Paz and Warsan Shire, both poets who resist colonial forces with their every line, helped guide us towards a title that speaks to the fundamental complexities of ‘home’ and the visceral feelings it awakens.
May every piece in this room strengthen our resilience and resolve to take up space, to be seen, to be heard. May we continue to resist the forces in power who have found it acceptable to dictate so much of our existence.” --Scrambled Eggs
