Vistas: Beauty of the Desert presents a series of landscape photographs made across Nevada, focusing on the state’s varied terrain and the quiet details that define it. The work highlights how scale, distance, and gradual change shape the experience of being in these environments. Rather than emphasizing well‑known destinations, the photographs draw attention to places that are often overlooked, where light, silence, and open space reveal the land’s history in plain view.
The exhibition centers on the act of being present in the landscape. Each image reflects time spent observing without urgency, allowing the surroundings to unfold naturally. Shown as large‑format prints with a minimalist approach, the work creates room for viewers to pause and consider their own relationship to Nevada’s environment. The photographs serve as points of connection, encouraging visitors to see these places as accessible and worth exploring beyond the frame.
Melvin Morales is a Las Vegas–based artist whose work focuses on landscape photography. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Cranston, Rhode Island, he developed an early interest in photography after picking up a Nikon camera and discovering its ability to preserve moments and memory. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, where coursework in photography strengthened his understanding of composition and visual storytelling.
Morales moved to Las Vegas in 2021 to reconnect with family and has since dedicated himself to exploring Nevada and the surrounding region. Photography has become a way for him to learn about new environments, understand different cultures, and build a deeper connection to the places he visits. He is the founder of Proview Media, a photography‑focused creative company, and holds a drone pilot certification, which expands his work into aerial perspectives. Across all of his practice, Morales aims to bring viewers closer to the landscapes he encounters and to create connection through imagery.
