Lara Tomlin: NY/NJ/NV

Lara Tomlin is a professional fine artist and illustrator specializing in portraiture. Her illustrations have appeared in The New Yorker, Time, Fortune, Forbes, Smithsonian, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal among other publications. Her creative reach extends to album art for Galaxy 500, posters for Broadway and off‑Broadway productions, and campaigns for Nike and a wine label for St. Supéry in California. Tomlin also maintains an active practice in private portrait commissions.

This exhibition traces three defining periods in Tomlin’s artistic journey. It begins with her published illustrations for The New Yorker, showcasing the clarity, wit, and sensitivity that characterize her work. The exhibition then moves into drawings and paintings created during her years in New Jersey, where bakeries and local landscapes became recurring subjects. It concludes with her most recent work from Nevada, highlighting donkeys and expansive desert vistas.

Together, these works reveal an artist continually observing, adapting, and deepening her connection to the people and places that shape her practice.
