Ken Kline's trompe l-oeil drawings were created as studies for the artist's finished paintings; however, each intricately drafted piece truly stands alone as a work of art. Representing countless hours of work and a lifetime of practice, these graphite-on-Bristol-board drawings continue Kline's trademark, illusory depictions of mementos and memorabilia from his collection.
Kline studied art at Rancho High School and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is a baseball enthusiast, and, in addition to coaching high school baseball, Kline worked for many years as the sign painter at Cashman Field, home of the Las Vegas 51s minor league team. He was responsible for painting the ads along the ballpark's walls, sometimes as large as 20 by 50 feet each. Kline was one of the last in the country to perform this back-breaking, dirty job, as most ballparks transitioned to digital signs.
