These brush paintings created by the Korean Calligraphy Art Association are composed of watercolor and ink, and “created in the spirit of the ancestors.” With traditional ink wash paintings, a great range of tonalities can be found in a single brush stroke. Once a stroke is painted, it cannot be changed or erased. This makes ink-wash painting a technically demanding art form requiring a great deal of skill and concentration.
This exhibit features the calligraphy work of James Kim and members of the Korean Calligraphy Art Association.
