Herstory 3: The Legal History of Chinese American Women

Herstory 3: The Legal History of Chinese American Women (2005-2024) is a documentary legal-history exhibition examining how Chinese American women have shaped, challenged, and transformed U.S. law and public policy in the twenty-first century between 2005 to 2024. Curated by Dr. Chang C. Chen, the exhibition is presented on fully bilingual panels in English and Chinese, ensuring accessibility for linguistically diverse, intergenerational audiences.

The exhibition presents ten landmark legal cases and movements, each grounded in verifiable court decisions, legislation, and public records. Through a narrative structure that combines legal analysis with historical storytelling, Herstory 3 centers on named individuals, specific cases, and documented outcomes, demonstrating how Chinese American women have emerged as judges, litigants, advocates, physicians, scholars, and public leaders—often during periods of national crisis and social conflict.
