Gayle Syfrit: Glass Fantasies

Artist Statement

My earliest memory as a creator was when, at age six, my mother and I put together o diorama book report for Charlotte's Web using a walnut shell and pipe cleaners to represent Charlotte, and colorful embroidery floss for the web. Since then I have crafted in numerous mediums, needlepoint and cross stitch, knitting and crocheting, drawing and painting. Since my retirement, i have focused on combining my love of antique and vintage glass, creating new distinct items using decoupage, and most recently, assemblage.

I have created handcrafted glass sculptures from repurposed vintage glass, crystal, and ceramics. Each piece offers timeless beauty while reducing waste. Each component is sourced, curated and assembled, combining form and function to create a new work of art, speaking directly to being eco-conscious while preserving beautiful old treasures.
