Floating Lines presents a selection of works by Dora Sio To Lou created between 2016 and 2026, documenting a decade-long exploration of line, space, and artistic expression. Through continuous practice and experimentation, Dora investigates the energy that can emerge from a single line. By working within the limitations of line drawing, she seeks to eliminate unnecessary thoughts and preconceived ideas, allowing the pure intention of creation to surface.
The final works are often selected for their ability to reveal multiple dimensions of interconnected space. Each drawing becomes a record of movement, intuition, and discovery, inviting viewers to experience the relationship between line, form, and the unseen spaces between them.
About the Artist
Dora Sio To Lou was born in Macau in 1980 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. After building a successful career in graphic design within the hotel and casino industry, she returned in 2012 to her original passion for art and drawing. In 2020, Dora moved to Las Vegas with her family. Her artistic practice is inspired by the meeting point of Chinese calligraphy and contemporary painting, where the expressive quality of line becomes both a visual language and a tool for self-discovery. For Dora, not always knowing what a drawing will become is part of the creative process—embracing uncertainty often leads to unexpected discoveries.
Floating Lines is Dora Sio To Lou’s first solo exhibition. Most of the works on display are being presented to the public for the first time. Through these paintings and drawings, she hopes to inspire viewers to explore their own perceptions of space, movement, and creativity.
