Sign up for our free adult education programs to improve your English skills and/or earn your High School Equivalency (HSE) certificate. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate.

Schedule Your Appointment

Choose your testing date and location for English or High School Equivalency (HSE) placement. (You must bring your photo ID to the test appointment.)

Setup Your Student Portal Account

Create your Nevada State Student Portal account. This must be completed before you head to your testing location. After you complete your test, you will receive your placement confirmation, and a staff member will assist you with enrolling in a class.

You will receive your placement confirmation once you take your test. Please use this to apply for your class in the Nevada State Student Portal.

Learn English & Earn Your High School Equivalency (HSE) Certificate

The Adult Learning Program is funded in part by the Nevada Department of Education and the Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education under Title Il of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Participants in WIOA funded programs are provided with the necessary support, education, and professional training.

Adult English Classes

Our Adult Learning Program offers English classes for non-native English speakers who wish to improve their English skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing to develop workforce readiness skills.

Intake assessment results determine class level, and adults wishing to participate are expected to commit to attending class regularly and for the full duration.

What to Expect

  • No Cost Adult ESL Classes
  • Begin anytime and learn at your own pace.
  • Experienced instructors offer classes at all levels, from beginner to advanced.
  • Build skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing with other adults in a friendly, supportive environment.

High School Equivalency (HSE)

The Adult Learning Program offers HiSET (High School Equivalency Testing). The HiSET provides adults with the opportunity to earn their Nevada Certificate of High School Equivalency. The certificate is widely recognized as the equivalent of a high school diploma.

Requirements

  1. Read Nevada State requirements, opens a new window.
  2. Create a HiSET Test Taker account.
  3. 18 years of age or older.
  4. Not currently enrolled in high school.
  5. Have a valid Nevada photo ID that shows name, address, date of birth, signature, and photograph.

HiSET Tests

The High School Equivalency Test Consists of 5 subtests: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. After students pass all the HiSET tests, Nevada issues them with a high school equivalency certificate. HiSET testing is free for students who are enrolled in class, maintain regular attendance, and complete at least 40 hours of in-class instruction.

The Adult Learning Program offers HiSET (High School Equivalency Testing). The HiSET provides adults with the opportunity to earn their Nevada Certificate of High School Equivalency. The certificate is widely recognized as the equivalent of a high school diploma.
