The Union Pacific Foundation has awarded a generous workforce development grant of $20,000 to the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation. The funding will be used to provide STEM classes at several library branches. This project is focused on helping tweens and teens gain important skills in coding, collaboration, and problem-solving, setting them up for success in today’s education and workforce environments.
For over 150 years, Union Pacific has helped stimulate economic growth in cities and towns throughout the nation by training and providing employment to millions of workers. More than ever, they are committed to ensuring residents in their communities are able to achieve family-supporting careers like those offered by Union Pacific. As such, they prioritize funding for programs that seek to put youth on the right track by building foundational skills, especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as well as necessary technical and life skills, to begin a trajectory toward these careers.
