To donate a book, or find used materials at reasonable prices, visit the Foundation's Used Bookstores, generally open during regular library hours.
The Library Foundation has an agreement with the Library District to operate used bookstores in 13 urban branches, selling both discarded materials received from the library as well as books and other items donated by the public. Bookstore hours are generally the same as library operating hours.
What you can donate to the Bookstores:
- Books - fiction and nonfiction, for children and adults, paperback and hard cover
- AudioBooks
- CDs and DVDs
- History, art, literary and antiques magazines
We do not accept damaged, stained or moldy material, or VHS or cassette tapes.
The Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. Bookstore volunteers or Library District Customer Service staff can give you a receipt for your donation when you drop off your items.
