Through the Eyes of George Fielder, Artist and Chef

George Fielder is a self–taught artist who has been painting for over 55 years. Originally from Detroit Michigan, Fielder studied at Highland Park Community College to be a medical illustrator. He has now worked as a chef and culinary expert for over 40 years, and was a member of the Alliance of Black Culinarians, which was founded by T.E. Williams in 1991. He first began as a dishwasher with Boyd gaming, then worked his way up to sous chef, assistant room chef at the Mirage Hotel, and finally to executive chef at Joker’s Wild. Most recently, he has been teaching culinary skills to youth at The Spring Mountain Youth Camp on Mt. Charleston.

"I remember as a child, my mother saw something in me, she always bought art supplies every holiday. She tore open paper bags and gave me a box of crayons to get busy. Now I want to show you what my eyes see as an artist." -- George Fielder
