Shellise Berry creates vibrant paintings intended to emanate a sense of peace, hope, and serenity. Her process of layering colors by making marks produces a painting with the purpose of telling a story that is spiritual and thought provoking. Her art is a combination of three styles; the non-naturalistic color use of Fauvism, the spontaneous brush strokes of Abstract Expressionism, and the focus of Symbolism on embedded meaning or ideas. The finished paintings are modern interpretations of stories from the Bible, and evidence of the artist's deep relationship with her faith.
