Grains of Sand and Silver is a photographic exploration of the striking and often overlooked landscapes and curiosities surrounding Las Vegas. Captured entirely on Kodak Tri-X 400 black and white film using a Minolta X-570 35mm SLR camera, the series invites viewers to see beyond the city’s neon glow and into the quiet, surreal beauty of the desert and its hidden corners—places that even longtime locals may have never noticed.
Artist statement
These photographs were taken by me when I was still a new resident to Las Vegas. Behind the photos is a lot of feelings of loneliness and uncertainty that come along with arriving at a new place and starting a new chapter in your life. But along with those feelings are a sense of discovery and enlightenment. That is not something I aimed to capture with these photographs, but I believe in a way I captured those feelings subconsciously. -- Quentin Miszczak
