Katie Castro: Harmonious

Color is not solely the domain of the artist, but rather an integral part of the broader community. The red shoes spotted walking down the sidewalk serve as a parallel to the striking canyons in our very own backyards. The verdant greens of the golf courses remind us of the connections we share with our friends as we laugh and play together. The brilliant yellows and golds of the city lights beckon us to feel young and vibrant once more.

Color has the power to evoke a wide range of emotions and can take us on an emotional journey like no other element. Katie Castro skillfully employs harmonious displays of ceramic works in a diverse range of colors to bring out the unique connection of each viewer. Through her masterful use of color and form, Castro creates a space where her audience can experience a full range of emotions, from the cheerful and playful impression of purple to the deeper sense of loyalty and freedom that comes with blue

Katie Castro is a skilled artist and potter based in Las Vegas, whose work is centered on the intricacy of form and color. In late 2016, after attending her first ceramics class, Katie embarked on a journey of artistic exploration that not only allowed her to pursue her newfound passion, but also to inspire other artists and viewers in her community.

Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in sculpture and a minor in Art History from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. With a successful career as a CCSD secondary teacher, she aspires to ignite a creative spark in young adults, encouraging them to explore their creativity in all facets of life.

Through her exceptional ceramic works and keen interest in the burgeoning arts scene of her community, Katie regularly showcases her passion for pottery at various local festivals and farmers' markets throughout the Las Vegas valley. Her striking creations continue to captivate and intrigue viewers, reflecting her unwavering commitment to the craft.
