Spinning Sefirot is a modern interpretation of an ancient metaphysical framework found within ancient Jewish mystical texts.
There are many theories and stories spanning all cultures and traditions that address how the world was created. It is an arena of great curiosity for thinkers young and old across the globe. How did we get from nothing to something?
In what is believed to be one of the oldest magical and mystical Hebrew texts, the Sefer Yetzirah (which dates back thousands of years) describes 10 sefirot which can be thought of as both numeric entities as well as elements of creation. Within the canonical kabbalistic text, the Zohar the sefirot become more developed as a system of qualities that contribute to aspects of the human experience. These qualities or what are sometimes referred to as divine eminences include: kindness, strength and beauty to name a few.
There is a tradition of organizing these sefirot as circles in a specific geometric pattern. daniella has an ongoing interest spanning many years of depicting them as spheres sometimes within this familiar geometry and sometimes outside of it.
daniella’s artwork is in over 200 private collections and she has been involved in greater than 30 solo and group exhibitions. She has a professional background that spans art, medicine and teaching. When not painting or drawing, daniella can be found studying Hebrew, swimming, doing yoga, and deeply appreciating coffee and chocolate.
