Artist Statement
My name is Cristina Ramos Kiss. I was born in Mexico to a circus family. I have been an acrobat since I was a little girl, traveling and performing in Mexico. This lifestyle brought me to the USA, where I met my husband in the Ringling Bros. Circus. After a few years, I moved to Budapest, Hungary, where my husband is from. We got married there and had a daughter and a son. Our family traveled and performed throughout Europe, but in the early 199Os we came to the United States to perform here. We settled in Las Vegas in the mid 1990s.
Since I was a little girl, I liked to help my mom sew. Throughout my life I made costumes for me and my family for our circus performances. Later in life, after moving to Las Vegas, I made costumes for many shows like Jubilee in Bally’s, Storm in Mandalay Bay, and Jersey Boys and Phantom of the Opera in Paris. My favorite and biggest job was A New Day with Celine Dion at The Colosseum.
After my retirement I found that I missed sewing, so I took out my needles and beads and started sewing again. My creations are all from my heart. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
