Christina Ramos: Love of Beads

Artist Statement

My name is Cristina Ramos Kiss. I was born in Mexico to a circus family. I have been an acrobat since I was a little girl, traveling and performing in Mexico. This lifestyle brought me to the USA, where I met my husband in the Ringling Brothers Circus. After a few years, I moved to Budapest, Hungary, where my husband is from. We got married there and had a daughter and a son. Our family traveled and performed through out Europe, but in early 199Os we came to United States to perform here. We settled in Las Vegas in mid 1990s.

Since I was a little girl, I liked to help my mom sew. Throughout my life I made costumes for me and my family for our circus performances. Later in life, after moving to Las Vegas, I made costumes for many shows like Jubilee in Bally’s, Storm in Mandalay Bay, Jersey Boys, and Phantom of the Opera in
Paris. My favorite and biggest job was A New Day with Celine Dion at The Colosseum.

After my retirement I found that I missed sewing, so I took out my needles and beads and started sewing again. My creations are from all my heart, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
