On Monday through Thursday afternoons during the school year, Clark County School District teachers and UNLV students can be found in Las Vegas-Clark County Library branches to provide drop-in tutoring services and homework help for students in grades K-12. During program hours, tutors are available to give one-on-one or small group instruction to youth in a variety of subjects and instruction tailored to individual student learning styles and goals. In many locations, tutors are bilingual, and also work with parents and care-givers for whom English is not their first language, teaching them ways to contribute to their child’s education and development.
During the 2017-18 school year, the Library District Foundation provided 8,851 tutoring sessions to students from 265 Clark County School District Schools. Teachers in the Libraries is free of charge thanks to the generous support of the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records, Institute of Museum and Library Services, United Way of Southern Nevada, MGM Resorts Foundation, Windsong Trust, the John Ben Snow Memorial Foundation, Union Pacific, the Kinder Morgan Foundation, America Reads America Counts, Andson Inc., and Station Casinos.
