The Library Foundation brought a weekend version of GRAMMY Camp to the Clark County Library on January 27th 2017, in partnership with Best Buy.
GRAMMY Camp Weekend is a one-day experience where a small group of high school students gain an introduction to the music industry. Participants learn how the music business works and how to pursue a successful career in it. This year's GRAMMY Camp® - Weekend Las Vegas offered students three music career tracks: Electronic Music Production, Video Production, and Vocal Performance. Professional participants at Best Buy GRAMMY Camp — Weekend Las Vegas included Laura Donohue, singer/songwriter, vocal coach, and voice over artist (vocal performance faculty member); Rick Schmunk, professor, music technology clinician, and professional musician (electronic music production faculty member); and Hadaya Turner, motion graphics designer and video editor (video production faculty member). The camp was the last of the season for the Grammy Museum and according to Hadaya Turner, “We closed out the weekend camp season strong in Vegas. The facility, support from the staff, and enthusiasm from the kids could not have been better.”
Established in 2008 as a partnership between the Recording Academy™ and AEG, the GRAMMY Museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating a greater understanding of the history and significance of music. Paying tribute to our collective musical heritage, the Museum explores and celebrates all aspects of the art form—from the technology of the recording process to the legends who've made lasting marks on our cultural identity. In 2017, the Museum integrated with its sister organization, the GRAMMY Foundation, to broaden the reach of its music education and preservation initiatives. As a unified organization, today, the GRAMMY Museum fulfills its mission of making music a valued and indelible part of our society through exhibits, education, grants, and public programming.
