The library is a site of research, archiving, investigation, and community learning. Master of Fine Art candidates from the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ Department of Art will use the library as an open and broad concept in the exhibit "Unshelved." The work in this show will investigate reading, text, research, learning, archives and beyond. Works will be in a broad range of media. Artists work will explore various themes that draw from concepts around the library.
UNLV’s MFA-Art program is studio-based and research-focused with an emphasis on interdisciplinarity, community engagement, and professional development. Each MFA student is provided with individual studio space. Graduate Assistantships in teaching, research, and professional development professionally advance students who have rare opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research, contribute to the development of curriculum, manage studios and shops, and work alongside community members, local organizations, and other departments on campus.
