Brian Higgins: Unhoused

Artist Brian Higgins focuses his talent and advantages on depicting citizens of our city who are experiencing homelessness, with the hope of inspiring urgent help.

Artist Statement

My interest, as an artist, extends to the disenfranchised as a whole, and specifically to those who lack even the barest means of artistic self-expression—especially people without shelter. Self-expression is not among their most urgent needs, but their experiences are important for us all to know.

I have never been homeless. I can, however, speak for what I see. Many people ignore the plight of the unhoused, as I did until the whole matter began to weigh excessively on my conscience. And, so, I am now trying to contribute my abilities to the cause, with the hope that we will come together soon to solve the issues facing those experiencing homelessness.
