• Sequential Plates (Numbers issued next in series):
  • Initial Fee: $61
  • Renewal Fee: $30

• Personalized Plates (Chosen combination of numbers & letters):
  • Initial Fee: $96
  • Renewal Fee: $50

Note: $25 of the initial fee and $20 of the annual renewal support the Las Vegas - Clark County Library District.

• Online, by Mail, or Fax:
  It’s advisable to order online or via mail/fax if your vehicle is already registered in Nevada, if you plan to move to Nevada soon, or if you will be buying a vehicle shortly. The DMV or County Assessor office you designate will mail a postcard when your plates are ready. You must pick up the plates within 60 days after they arrive at the office. Make an appointment as soon as you order the plates.
• In-Person:
  Order in person if you will be registering a vehicle or renewing registration within the next 60 days. The DMV will issue a movement permit and mail the plates to you.

To swap plates on an existing Nevada registration:

• Bring the old plates to the DMV or County Assessor offering vehicle registration services.
• No registration renewal or emissions inspection is necessary if your renewal is not due.
• A $5 substitute plate fee will apply in addition to the specialty plate fees.

If your renewal is due within 35 days, or if you choose to renew, you may need to complete an emissions inspection if the last test was conducted more than 90 days ago. Your expiration date may change if the current expiration date is more than 35 days away, and you will receive credit for the unused portion of your current Nevada registration.

Yes, if you’re transferring plates between vehicles you own:

• You must renew the registrations for a full year.
• Present the Evidence of Insurance card(s) and Emissions Inspection(s) if required.
• You will receive credit for any unused portion of your current registration.
• Bring the license plate application, required documentation, Evidence of Insurance, and your current odometer reading to a DMV Full Service Office or a County Assessor offering vehicle registration services.
